At ABC we believe that God’s Word admonishes us to be in Community. Hebrews 10:24-25 states, “ And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” In this passage, the author of Hebrews prompts us to purposefully consider how we can encourage and support each other in love and good works being intentional to gather together, even more so as we see the day of Christ approaching. In the previous verse, Hebrews 10:23, we are told to hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering. When we are relentlessly bombarded by messages from the world, the effects of sin in the world, and even our own self-deceiving hearts, the need to be in Christian community is vital if we are to stand firm, live a life of love and good works and encourage each other to keep our hearts and eyes on eternity. The author knows this is true, so he says do not forsake assembling together; we must be intentional to be in community.
