God has been gracious toward Aboite Baptist from our very humble beginnings to today. On September 2, 1977, a few families in whom God had placed a calling and a dream met to seek God’s will about establishing a baptist church in Aboite Township. On February 28, 1978, God had grown this small group in number to allow them to begin holding regular morning worship services in the Hope Presbyterian Church located at the corner of Homestead and Liberty Mills Roads. By early 1979, the Lord continued to bless and opened the door for the church to purchase their own building, so they signed a contract to purchase Hope Presbyterian and the four acres it owned.
As the church continued to grow, it soon became apparent that they would need to expand the facilities at Homestead Road. In the summer of 1983, the church started a fund raising program and God supplied more than $20,000 from the congregation for the construction of a new sanctuary and remodeling of the original structure.
Then in 2000, the congregation agreed to trust the Lord to provide the funding for a 5500 square foot addition. In a clear demonstration of God’s power, the funding was supplied in sufficient measure to move forward in 2001, without taking on any debt! Also in 2001 the church transitioned from a Pastor and Deacon leadership team to a multiple pastor (elder) structure with Deacons serving in a supporting role. How thankful we are for God’s work completed in and through us. Join us as we look forward with great excitement and anticipation at how God will change and use us in the days ahead for His glory!
